Speed touch

What a final day for the term - Daniel & Morgie from Waimea College came down and taught us an awesome game of speed touch - great fun!

Performance

Today we had an amazing group of performers. They are part of a group called Strike Force that are touring the country. They play drums and percussion instruments. It was impressive. 

Hip Hop with Dean & Ezra

We had an awesome opportunity to learn some dance moves with Dean & Ezra from the Stepping Out programme.  It was awesome to learn these flash moves. Hopefully we can master them before the school disco. 

 Ms Thurlow dominated. 

Matariki

Today we celebrated Matariki. Both the middle and senior kapahaka groups performed in front of the school. It was ver impressive! Well done. 

AMY MCILROY

Today we were able to have a chance to meet one of the members of the New Zealand Commonwealth Team. Amy came to talk about her journey to become one of the best players in the world in bowls. Thanks to Mrs Brenton, the sports council and Amy for this presentation. It was a fantastic experience. 

Football World Cup

Today we had a fantastic day competing in the senior syndicate Football World Cup. Thank you Mrs Brenton and the sports council for organising this event. We had so much fun. 

Football with George

This morning we had an awesome session of football with George. With our own football World Cup coming soon, we needed to get some practise in. 

Peter's Solar Presentation

We were able to have a wonderful presentation from Peter this morning on the solar system. So many of our questions were answered from this and our solar system put into context. The size of planets and the distances between each one.

Ancient Civilisations

Google Apps Accounts

For the students who have new Google Apps accounts, use these set of instructions for logging in.

Flying Mexican Wrestlers

During this term we have been spending time making these flying Mexican wrestlers. We covered a balloon with 3 layers of paper mâché. When it was set, cut the balloon in half and glued it onto the card. Using a simple pattern, we drew the faces on the balloon and painted it. We used rolled up paper to make the fists and added vivid to clarify the lines. They look awesome!

Hockey PD

Over the last few weeks we have had a teachers from Tasman hockey taking skills training with our class. Today was our final session with Tom. It was so much fun playing and we want to thank Tasman Hockey. Here are a couple of photos playing one of the hockey games.

Rugby Skills with Shaun

We had Shaun come in and teach us some awesome rugby skills. We found it fantastic as we got better at passing a rugby ball and playing rippa. We had a lot of fun and want thank Tasman Rugby for sending Shaun out to our school.

Swimming Sports

Absolutely fantastic day at the swimming sports last week. It was a hot day and everyone gave performed their best during their race. Student behaviour was outstanding and so was their support of other races by cheering on friends or members of their colour. Our class did really well in the relay, making the final, only to come a very close second.

Welcome to Room 5 2013

Here is the first post for the 2013. Keep an eye on our blog site for what has been happening in class with photos and videos. Look at the tabs at the top of our blog site for links to the work we are doing for maths and our topic work.

We are looking at graphs and data interpretation over the next three weeks. On the ‘Statistics’ tab are links to internet games that students can play to help them with this.

Next week we will be starting our unit on Native Flora and Fauna. Have a look at the ‘Topic’ tab at the top of the page of the activities we are doing. We will also be preparing for our camp coming very soon.

Homework and spelling will also be added to the blog site for you to see what they are doing. We will be starting homework after camp.
